University College London – Child of the New Century

Context
Child of the New Century (CNC) is part of a long-running series but UCL of UK longitudinal studies examining how life in the UK has evolved across generations. Each study follows a representative cohort, from those born in the 1940s through to individuals born in the new century, enabling meaningful comparison over time.

Brief
To create an illustration celebrating the insight and societal contribution of the individuals participating in the Child of the New Century study. I was one of three illustrators commissioned for this project.

Approach
The illustration was developed as a conceptual response to the study’s themes of continuity, change, and lived experience. Visual elements were composed to reflect both individual narratives and their collective contribution, balancing clarity with symbolism to support an academic and public-facing audience.

Outcome
The final artwork formed part of a wider illustrated set, helping to communicate the value of the study and the voices it represents in an accessible, visually engaging way.
