Context
Suffolk Mind is an independent local charity affiliated with the national Mind organisation, supporting mental health and wellbeing across Suffolk.
Brief
During the COVID-19 lockdown period, I was invited to contribute a series of illustrations for educational resources developed by Suffolk Mind. Due to limited funding at the time, the work was produced on a non-commercial basis in support of the charity’s outreach and education efforts with young people.
Approach
The illustrations were developed in response to a structured set of prompts designed to encourage reflection and discussion. The first series explored themes including sleep, purpose, status, achievement, food and drink, movement, connection, community, privacy, control, and security. A second series focused on more abstract concepts such as imagination, memory, sense of self, pattern recognition, and rapport. The visual language was intentionally open and interpretive to allow space for personal meaning.
Outcome
The illustrations were used across Suffolk Mind’s educational materials, helping to support accessible, age-appropriate engagement with complex emotional and psychological themes during a period of heightened need.
