Brief
To create an illustration for a Californian wine company bottle label, drawing on the topography of an obsidian ridge located at the northern end of the Mayacamas Mountain Range.
Approach
The illustration was developed as a site-inspired landscape study, translating the geological form and texture of the ridge into a graphic language suitable for use on a single wine label. Particular attention was given to line, depth, and rhythm, allowing the terrain to be read clearly at label scale while retaining a sense of place.
Outcome
Although originally commissioned for one wine label, the illustration was subsequently adopted more widely across the brand. Variations of the artwork were used across additional labels, packaging, and broader brand materials, demonstrating the flexibility and longevity of the original concept.
